This book by Marie Blair was such an enjoyable read! As you may or may not know, I love rhyming books as it adds an upbeat tempo to read-aloud and holds the child's attention. It's fun for the adults to read too.
The book has a nice message in it as well. We are in a world where women are still overwhelmingly responsible for child care and child-rearing. But in this story, it's the Dad who has to manage a houseful of rowdy kids, errr, baby dragons, cleaning up after them while trying to keep his sanity intact. Daddy Dragon also saves his cute kid dragons from an other-worldly creature. All this while the Mommy Dragon is away on a work meeting. This role-reversal was unexpected and also teaches kids that childcare and parenting isn’t only a mom’s job.
The illustrations with its bright reds & greens were WOW! My child couldn't stop staring at them.
The story did take some time to get moving though. Also, I would say the book had a lot of words crammed into the page, so a young child could lose attention while a parent is reading aloud.
But I dare you to not enjoy this fun read! The book is now available on Amazon.
