Both my son and I agree, this is a FUN, FUN, FUN, book! Due to the length of the story and how action packed it is, this is more appropriate for kids 4 to 8.
My child is a huge fan of dinosaurs, so he loved the part when Timothy Mean goes back in time to the Jurassic period and has the guts to yank the T-Rex's tail. If your child is an astronomy fan, there's something in this book for them. If they love the high seas, there's something in this book for them. If they are fans of history, then there's something in here for them. And if they are care more about the future with flying cars and robots everywhere, there's something in this book for them too!
With all the different things going on, to story will definitely capture your child's attention from beginning to end. And you all know how much I love my rhyming picture books, right? So the rhyme held my attention too. And it has repetition going by the days of the week- so it's a good way for kids to learn the days of the week too.
I will say that the reading experience would be easier on the eyes if too many words weren't crammed into the pages- this is a book for kids after all. Also, I found the font style and the font colour hard to read against the very colorful and action-packed illustrations.
Despite these minor quibbles, Timothy Mean and the Time Machine is an upbeat story, it maintains a good pace and is funny. My child loves it, thus I highly recommend this.
